I installed jack_capture, this gave me a visual reference to the audio
jack was processing. Hmmm... assuming you are using jackd! :-)
I also recently found in alsamixer that the channel I was using as line
in was not set for CAPTURE (select channel and space bar to select the
channel) this stopped the audio as well.
